Joe Ambler

Joe Ambler (12 February 1860 – 10 February 1899)[1] was an English cricketer, who played first-class cricket for Yorkshire and Somerset.

Born Joseph Ambler in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England, he was right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler, and an occasional wicket-keeper, who played eight first-class games. He scored 197 runs at an average of 14.07, with a highest score of 76 against the MCC in 1883. He took seven wickets at an average of 31.71, with a best of 4 for 54. He also took five catches and made two stumpings.

His debut for Yorkshire was against Cambridge University at Fenner's in 1886.

Ambler died at the age of 38.
